Volunteer Sailor Viktor Nuss Killed in Ukraine

On July 10, 2026, while carrying out a combat mission in the zone of the special military operation (SVO), 30-year-old Viktor Nuss, a native of the Kamyshinsky district of Volgograd region, was killed. The man, known by the call sign Phoenix, went to the front as a volunteer, having signed a contract while in a strict-regime penal colony.

The upcoming farewell was announced in local social media pages in Kamyshin. The authors of the post wrote: «During the special military operation, while carrying out a combat mission on July 10, 2026, Nuss Viktor Alexandrovich died. Viktor courageously defended the Motherland and fulfilled his military duty with honor. A man of good soul has died! Viktor was wonderful, sincere, and responsive! He was a loving son, the best brother and husband! An excellent friend and comrade! Always lent a helping hand! He will forever remain in our hearts!»

The deceased«s wife Lilia said that Viktor had previously been convicted of extortion committed as part of a group. According to the records of the Kamyshin City Court, in July 2024 he was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

«He served in the army in the navy, after that he ended up in prison,» Lilia shared. «In August 2024 he received a serious wound. Then he was in rehabilitation. He underwent four operations. After rehabilitation, he went back to serve, did not get discharged. He only recently became a junior sergeant.»

According to the woman, Viktor died on July 10. «A drone hit the car; my husband was driving. He managed to jump out but suffered a shrapnel wound to the head,» she said.

The farewell to Viktor Nuss will take place on July 21 in Kamyshin. It will be conducted with military honors.
