Volgograd to Warm to +1°C, Ice Expected
The period of extreme cold in Volgograd Oblast is ending, but the weather change brings precipitation and black ice.

According to the Volgograd Hydrometeorological Center, the period of abnormal cold will soon give way to rapid warming, which will be accompanied by precipitation, fog, and ice formation.
On Friday, 6 February, no significant precipitation is expected, but frost is possible. The wind will strengthen and change direction from east to southeast with gusts up to 14 meters per second. Nighttime temperatures will be:
- In the north of the region: -21...-26°C (-6...-15°F), in places down to -31°C (-24°F), and in some areas to -35°C (-31°F).
- In the south of the region: -14...-19°C (7...-2°F), in places -21...-26°C (-6...-15°F).
During the day, the air will warm to -12...-17°C (10...1°F), and in the south to -10°C (14°F).
On Saturday, 7 February, the weather will begin to change. Light precipitation in the form of snow and wet snow, fog, ice, black ice, and snow pack are forecast. Blowing snow is possible. Nighttime temperatures will range from -8 to -21°C (18 to -6°F), and daytime will see 0 to -10°C (32 to 14°F).
On Sunday, 8 February, light to moderate precipitation in the form of snow, wet snow, and drizzle is expected in the west of the region; no precipitation is forecast in the east. During the day, drizzle, rain mixed with snow, and snow are possible. Fog and icy conditions are likely in places. The wind will shift to southwest with gusts up to 12 m/s. Nighttime lows will be from -2 to -12°C (28 to 10°F), and daytime highs from -7 to +1°C (19 to 34°F).
Specifically in Volgograd on Friday, 6 February, no precipitation is expected, but black ice and snow pack will remain on the roads. Night temperatures will drop to -20...-22°C (-4...-8°F), and daytime to -10...-12°C (14...10°F).
On 7 February, fog, ice, and snow pack are predicted in the city. Warming: nighttime to -12°C (10°F), daytime to -5°C (23°F).
8 February will be even warmer. No precipitation is expected at night; during the day, snow, drizzle, fog, and ice are possible. Nighttime temperature will be -8°C (18°F), daytime -3°C (27°F).
Space weather will also be unsettled: geomagnetic disturbances are expected in the coming days, and a magnetic storm may occur on 6 February.
Doctors warn that sharp temperature swings can be hazardous to health, leading to exacerbation of chronic cardiovascular diseases and increasing life risks.
