Volgograd Sets Farewell Date for Journalist Yelnikov
The body of Vladimir Yelnikov, who died on his birthday, will be brought from Moscow to Volgograd for a farewell ceremony.

In Volgograd, the date and time of the farewell ceremony for journalist Vladimir Yelnikov have been announced. He died on 17 July, his birthday, from a heart attack, despite the efforts of three ambulance teams.
The tragedy was described by his friend, journalist Alexander Litvinov: «I called him in the morning — he didn’t pick up. I called again later — no answer. I called back after lunch — his wife picked up and said, »Sasha, Volodya has just died…« A heart attack… Three ambulance crews arrived, tried to save him, but, alas, failed… A most talented and intelligent man… He was…»
According to Litvinov, Yelnikov headed the editorial office of the newspaper «Krestyanskaya Zhizn» (Peasant Life) for a long time, and in recent years lived in Moscow, working for an agricultural magazine.
The friend noted that the journalist never complained about his health: «He never complained about his health; there were no problems with it.»
The farewell ceremony will take place on Saturday, 25 July, at 12:45 in the funeral hall of Dmitrovskoye Cemetery. Relatives asked not to bring many flowers, as the body will be cremated.
