Volgograd Schedules Journalist’s Farewell After Birthday Death

Volgograd has announced the date and time of the farewell for journalist Vladimir Yelnikov, who died on his birthday. The sad news from Moscow arrived that day, 17 July.
The death of the talented journalist was reported by his friend, journalist Alexander Litvinov:
«I called him in the morning — he didn’t answer. I called a little later — he didn’t answer either. I called back after lunch — his wife picked up and said, «Sash, Volodya just died…» — Alexander Litvinov recounts. — A heart attack… Three ambulance crews arrived, tried to save him, but, alas, they failed… A most talented and intelligent man… He was…»
According to Alexander Litvinov, Vladimir Yelnikov had long headed the editorial office of the newspaper Krestyanskaya Zhizn, but in recent years he lived in Moscow and worked for some agricultural magazine.
«He never complained about his health, there were no problems with it,» recalls his friend Alexander Litvinov.
The farewell for Vladimir Yelnikov is scheduled for Saturday, 25 July, and will be held in the funeral hall of Dmitrovskoye Cemetery. The ceremony will begin at 12:45, and relatives ask not to bring many flowers, as Vladimir Yelnikov’s body will be cremated.
