Volgograd Residents Suffer Day-Long Internet Outage
Despite the outages, residents have to pay for home internet in full.
Residents of central Volgograd are complaining about a massive home internet outage. According to them, it was out for nearly a day the day before. The situation, residents say, is not the first time, but they still have to pay the full amount each month.
A complaint about one of the popular providers came from residents of building No. 2 on Alleya Geroev. Residents of building No. 14 on Sovetskaya also faced the same issue.
“Dear provider. When will you deign to fix the internet? At Alleya Geroev, 2, your old equipment stands, which works intermittently. On the hotline they answer ‘work is in progress.’ The work takes nearly a day. And this is not the first time,” readers of V1.RU complain. “Yesterday we had no internet for a day. Yesterday I came home from work — the TV won’t work, I can’t log into the banking app. Regular mobile internet is also being jammed.”
Moreover, as a female reader says, the residents of the building have no opportunity to change providers.
“Every month we pay 1,000 rubles ($11 at current rates). For some it may not be money, but for us it’s significant. We have no other providers. If it were possible to change providers, people would have already changed,” says the resident. “I am a consumer, I pay for services, but in the end — nothing. Why isn’t the equipment that can’t cope being replaced? Why isn’t a recalculation being made?”
One of the provider’s employees explained to V1.RU: the day before, there was a phase-by-phase power outage — because of this, the equipment was de-energized.
“It’s hot now, there is a very heavy load, everyone turns on split systems and so on. The wiring in these houses is old, it can’t handle it, which causes interruptions. The equipment in almost all houses is new,” the employee clarified.
The editorial office sent an email to the company requesting an explanation of what may be causing such home internet outages and how users can get a recalculation.
Previously, Voroshilovsky District and the workers’ settlement of Gorkovsky in Sovetsky District suddenly lost home internet. According to residents, internet access disappeared without explanation. Representatives of the internet provider reported that a trunk line had been cut.
