Volgograd Residents Shun Filthy Shelter

The footage shows a cluttered basement that is impossible to enter without a flashlight
A resident of building No. 151 on Lenin Avenue in Volgograd«s Krasnooktyabrsky district reported that on 27 June it became clear that the basement intended as a shelter was in unsatisfactory condition. However, a month later, nothing has changed.
Additional footage of the shelter
After an air raid alert was announced last night, residents left their apartments but did not go to the shelter. According to the video«s author, a pregnant woman with her husband and other neighbors sat on a bench near the entrance.
«Where else would they go? To that pigsty? You can»t even get in there: there«s no light, you can only crawl in on all fours, and wires are hanging — unclear whether they»re live or not. It«s been like this since the plant was attacked. I called the management company, they promised to fix everything within a week, but nothing changed. The district administration redirected me to housing supervision, but they said it»s not their remit. So last night everyone just sat on a bench in the courtyard: that pregnant woman with her husband, an elderly woman, a man holding a child, other neighbors, and me,« the video»s author recounted.
The management company «Kvartal» could not comment promptly; the duty officer recommended calling back later.
The video showing the shelter«s condition has been sent to Volgograd»s administration, asking them to assess the premises and assign responsibility for cleaning it up.
