Volgograd residents refuse filthy bomb shelter, sit outdoors
Trash is the least of the problems
Residents of building No. 151 on Lenin Avenue in Volgograd«s Krasnooktyabrsky district have complained about the appalling condition of their bomb shelter. According to one resident, the problems were already evident on 27 June, yet a month later nothing has improved.
A resident told V1.RU that last night, after the alert was announced, people left their homes but refused to go into the shelter.
— A pregnant woman and her husband sat on a bench near the entrance — where else could they go? Into that pigsty? — the video«s author told V1.RU. — You can»t even get inside: there«s no light, you have to crawl in on all fours, wires are hanging down, and I don»t know if they«re live. It»s been like that since the factory was attacked. I called the management company, and they promised to fix everything within a week, but nothing changed. The district administration redirected me to housing supervision, but they said it wasn«t their issue. So last night everyone just sat on benches in the courtyard: that pregnant woman and her husband, an elderly woman, a man holding a child, other neighbors, and me.
The V1.RU editorial team reached the duty officer of the management company «Kvartal,» but received no answer about the shelter«s condition — the woman suggested calling back later.
The video has been sent to the Volgograd city administration with a request to assess the shelter«s condition and determine who is responsible for bringing it up to standard.
