Volgograd Residents Hear Boom and Sirens During Missile Alert

On the night of 21 July, residents of Volgograd reported loud sounds and sirens after a missile alert was declared. The incident affected Tsentralny, Dzerzhinsky, Sovetsky and other districts of the city.
The first reports appeared around 03:30.
Residents shared their observations:
- «In Dzerzhinsky district, sirens started howling.»
- «In Sovetsky there was such a dull boom, and after that something started talking on the loudspeaker, but I couldn«t hear what.»
- «Here in Dzerzhinsky the siren was blaring.»
- «The loudspeakers started talking.»
- «Just now there was a very loud bang, I even felt the vibration.»
- «My house just shook.»
- «Even though I»m from Zhilgorodok, I could hear it muffled. My window was open, the door even jerked.»
- «Krasnooktyabrsky district, sirens have been blaring for half an hour.»
Toward morning on 21 July, a missile alert was declared in Volgograd Region. Residents received SMS notifications from the RSChS (Russian Emergency Situations Ministry) asking them to take documents and go to shelter. After that, sirens sounded in the city.
Around the same time, Rosaviatsia (Russian Federal Air Transport Agency) closed Volgograd Airport for arrivals and departures to ensure flight safety.
No official comments on the situation in the region have been received yet.
