Photographer Svetlana Gutorova has presented views of Volgograd at night. On a cold winter evening, spots known to every resident look unusual and at times even mysterious.

Her photographs feature the Alley of Heroes, the Alexander Nevsky Church, and the Eternal Flame. The interplay of light and shadow, along with reflections from New Year decorations, creates a «living» photo effect. It feels as if reaching out would let you sense the warmth of the Eternal Flame on the Alley of Heroes and catch the faint scent of incense and hot wax from the church candles.
The Eternal Flame on the Alley of Heroes glows with a vivid and lifelike warmth.

The monument «The Motherland Calls» against the dark sky appears painted, and snowflakes in the frame enhance this illusion. People in the foreground seem like small dark dots. The Hall of Military Glory at the statue«s base, where the Eternal Flame burns and the names of Stalingrad»s fallen defenders are etched in granite, looks entirely like an oil painting on canvas. Look closer and feel this sensation deep within.
Even after dark, visitors come to Mamayev Kurgan, captured in this winter evening scene.

The image resembles an oil painting more than a photograph due to its soft lighting.
