Volgograd khutor holds farewell for teacher killed in Ukraine

In the Mikhailovsky district of Volgograd region, a farewell was held for Nikolai Pechersky, a deputy principal and physical education teacher killed in Ukraine. The man was sent to the contact line as part of partial mobilization. As his former students recount, the beloved teacher was taken directly from a lesson. The entire school was bewildered, but everyone waited for him to return and become director. In October, his wife was informed that her loved one had tragically died.
As former student Ksenia told V1.RU, he worked as a teacher for about 30 years. He taught life safety, physical education, and concurrently served as deputy principal in a small school in the khutor of Plotnikov-2 (Volgograd region).
“We were all bewildered when he was mobilized. He received a summons, he was taken directly from school. At first, he thought they would bring him and let him go back. But no. Since 2022, he was there, and he was also a teacher for his guys, they kindly called him granddad there,” — the woman says. — “In July, his father died, they let him go for the funeral. In September, his mother-in-law died. When he came to his father, he was so gray, white-white, tired, just burned out…”
According to Ksenia, Nikolai’s wife also works as a teacher in this school. Every day began for her with a message from her husband. On October 16, he wrote to her that he was going on a mission. But just a few hours later, the woman was called and informed: Nikolai Nikolayevich had been killed.
“He checked in with his wife in the morning, as usual, saying he was going on a combat mission. And she sat every morning, waiting for his message. ‘Well, that’s it, Kolya has checked in, I can go to work.’ After lunch, her commander called and said that Nikolai Nikolayevich had been killed. They tried to save him, pumped him for about 40 minutes, but couldn’t,” — says Ksenia.
The woman says that the educator was loved not only for his professionalism and kindness, but also for his humor and jokes in class.
“He was very kind, cheerful. I remember how in PE class we were learning to do an underhand serve in volleyball. A classmate couldn’t do it. Nikolai Nikolayevich says: ‘Ira, well, imagine that this is my head. Swing and hit.’ And then Ira served. He looks at her like that, says: ‘Ira, I, of course, understand everything, but I didn’t expect that,’” — says Ksenia. — “He taught me how to do a somersault. Twenty years later, it came in handy when my son started acrobatics and I needed to show him how it’s done. When he came on leave, I told him: ‘Nikolai Nikolayevich, I recently remembered: well, mathematics never came in handy for me even once, but how to do a somersault, I remembered after 20 years.’”
They bid farewell to Nikolai Pechersky on October 28 in the khutor of Plotnikov-2. He was 48 years old. He is survived by his wife and daughters.
“The school is very quiet now… Dead silence. Everyone remembers him, loves him. Everyone had come to terms with him being there, but everyone waited for him to return and become director. If there was hope before, now there is no hope, he has already returned. They haven’t found a replacement for him and won’t find one. The school is left without a deputy principal and a beloved teacher,” — says Ksenia.
