Staircase to Rostov main bus station crumbling

The staircase on Maxim Gorky Street leading to Rostov«s Main Bus Station is crumbling. Some steps have fallen off, others are loose. Local residents say it is unsafe to use the staircase, especially during rain or snow. A correspondent from 161.RU asked the Rostov administration whether they plan to repair it.

According to officials, the housing and communal services department of Leninsky District has prepared a cost estimate for repairs. Specialists are currently finalizing a package of documents in order to secure funding.

At an informational meeting on July 15, local residents also asked the head of Leninsky District, Yulia Mishchuk, when the staircase would be restored. One resident noted that the staircase is currently «in an appalling condition».
Yulia Mishchuk replied that the district administration is requesting funds for a quick repair of the staircase, but plans a major overhaul in the future. The authorities have proposed that two developers invest in the repair. Mishchuk did not specify whether any of the companies were interested.
The head of Leninsky District also said that Rostov is developing a cost estimate for improvements under the bridge on Siversa Street and at the Zapadny Razvorot area. The final project is promised to be presented in October.
