St. Petersburg Weather to Change Sharply: Coldest Day Ahead

St. Petersburg is bracing for a sharp weather change. According to the city«s chief forecaster Alexander Kolesov, on the first workday of the week temperatures will drop to +14°C (57°F) and rain will begin. The cause is a cyclone currently over Kaliningrad Region.

“We warmed up over the weekend, now we«ll cool down a bit. … Tomorrow will be the coldest day,” Kolesov wrote on his Telegram channel.

On Tuesday, July 21, temperatures in St. Petersburg will be +14…+16°C (57–61°F). Only in the south of Leningrad Region, from Luga to Tikhvin (Leningrad Region), will the air warm up to +18…+20°C (64–68°F). The northeast wind will intensify to 8–13 m/s, and gusts will be even stronger in coastal areas. Rain will fall for most of the day, according to the forecaster.

On Wednesday and Thursday, precipitation will continue. Thunderstorms are possible in places. Air temperatures in the city will not rise above +18…+20°C (64–68°F).

By Friday, July 24, the rain will stop and the air will warm above +20°C (68°F).
