St. Petersburg to repair main thoroughfares in 2026

Authorities in St. Petersburg have presented plans for the major repair of key city streets in 2026. The list includes Nevsky Prospect, Universitetskaya Embankment, and other central thoroughfares.

The plan for repair works in 2026 was announced by St. Petersburg Vice Governor Nikolai Linchenko on January 20 during a press conference at TASS.
The main artery scheduled for reconstruction will be Nevsky Prospect. Work will begin on the section from Vosstaniya Square to Alexander Nevsky Square.

Also in the list of main objects for major repair included:

  • Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment
  • Universitetskaya Embankment
  • Sredny Prospect of Vasilievsky Island
  • Lesnoy Prospect
‘These are probably the main thoroughfares, apart from the remaining streets that will be repaired as planned,’ declared Nikolai Linchenko.
The official noted that in terms of scale, the upcoming works will be comparable to the results of 2025, when 160 km of roads were brought into order in the city.
