St. Petersburg to Build New Bridges Over Neva River
Authorities in St. Petersburg have confirmed plans to put a new drawbridge across the Neva into operation. As stated by Vice Governor Nikolai Linchenko on January 20 at a press conference at TASS, the mechanism for raising the Bolshoi Smolensky Bridge should be ready for the next navigation season in 2026.
Operational traffic on the new crossing is planned to be launched a year later, in 2027. Similar timelines were previously announced during the governor«s visit to the construction site.
In parallel, in 2026, full-scale construction of the Shirotnaya Magistral speedway will begin. This major transport project also includes a drawbridge across the Neva.
Currently, for the Shirotnaya Magistral, a concession agreement has already been concluded, design documentation has been approved, and preparatory work is being carried out on the territory. However, the contract with the general contractor for construction, which, according to preliminary data, is to be the company BTS-Most of Ruslan Baysarov, has not yet been officially formalized.
