The press service of the St. Petersburg government announced the extension of the yellow weather danger level. The warning related to abnormally low temperatures will be in effect from 21:00 on January 30 to 10:00 on January 31. During this period, cooling to minus 20 degrees Celsius (-4°F) and below is expected in some areas of the city.
Meteorologists also forecast the persistence of frosty weather on the night of February 1. A second period of adverse conditions is set from 20:00 on January 31 to 11:00 on February 1. Moreover, the yellow danger level has been extended until 13:00 on February 1 due to expected icy and frost deposits.
City authorities urged drivers to exercise increased caution and, if possible, avoid trips in personal vehicles, as difficult weather conditions increase the risk of accidents. Pedestrians are recommended to dress warmly and be careful when moving along the streets.
