Shanties to be demolished for new residential complex in Novosibirsk

Barracks on Nikitina Street in the Oktyabrsky District are slated for demolition. In their place, a residential complex will be built as part of a comprehensive territorial development project. A draft decree on the matter has been published by the mayor«s office.

According to the document, the city plans to permit development on 0.6 hectares bounded by Voinskaya, Nikitina, Proletarskaya, and Dobrolyubova streets, near the Heroes of Donbas park. The site currently houses three two-story barracks and several administrative buildings. The residential buildings are to be demolished by the future developer.

The deadline for implementing the comprehensive development decision is 2030. The land is planned to be sold at auction. The plot is zoned for mid-rise and high-rise residential buildings.

For now, the mayor«s office has only published a draft decree, which is subject to change.

Recently, the Novosibirsk mayor«s office decided to auction 46 hectares in the Oktyabrsky District. The developer who wins the auction will have to relocate residents from about 300 buildings, including private and apartment buildings.
