Shanghai Dragons hockey players train on Fontanka

In freezing weather, the ice of St. Petersburg«s rivers attracts a variety of winter enthusiasts. On February 4, an unusual spectacle was observed in the city center – professional hockey players held a training session on the frozen water.
On the ice of the Fontanka, under the Lomonosov Bridge, defenseman Vladislav Leontyev (No. 3) and forward Kirill Rasskazov (No. 92) of the Shanghai Dragons club demonstrated high skill in stick handling.
The Shanghai Dragons hockey club plans to stay in St. Petersburg for at least another season. Preparations for moving to China continue, but this process requires considerable time and careful preparation.
The ice on the Fontanka, Neva, and other waterways of St. Petersburg has recently become a place for mass walks by residents. This has caused concern for the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), which reminds that walking on the ice of rivers and canals is prohibited throughout the winter, unlike the Gulf of Finland. The most dangerous areas are considered to be zones near bridges, water sources, and vegetation. Rescuers emphasize that it is especially risky to be on the ice in these places due to possible thaw holes and thin ice.
