Seven-Year-Old Kirill Needs Help for Leukemia

Seven-year-old Kirill Ronzhin was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. After long treatment, doctors confirmed remission, but the boy concurrently developed thrombosis. To combat both threats, expensive drug therapy is needed, costing over 1.7 million rubles (approximately $19,100 at current exchange rates). These expenses are not covered by budget funds.
Kirill«s health problems began to appear in the fall of 2024. Since October, he was often ill, and in November he was hospitalized at the Murmansk Regional Children»s Hospital. The exact diagnosis was made in April 2025. Treatment took place in several stages with transfers between clinics, eventually ending up with the boy and his mother in St. Petersburg at the Almazov National Medical Research Centre.
By the end of May, doctors reported the onset of remission. Unfortunately, this joyful news was overshadowed by a complication: during chemotherapy, Kirill developed a thrombus. Now the treatment task has become more complicated — it is necessary to simultaneously fight leukemia and prevent thromboembolic complications.
According to the attending physician Andrei Egorov, to consolidate remission, Kirill is indicated for two courses of immunotherapy with the drug Blincyto. To prevent thrombosis complications, anticoagulant therapy with the drug Xarelto must be continued. It is this combination therapy that poses a financial problem for the family.
- Diagnosis: acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
- Complication: catheter-associated thrombosis.
- Required drugs: Blincyto and Xarelto.
- Needed amount: 1,720,572 rubles (approximately $19,100 at current exchange rates).
The amount proved unaffordable for the family. Relatives sought help from the St. Petersburg charity foundation «Svet.Deti», which organized a fundraising campaign. According to the latest data, just over 20% of the required funding has been raised.
The foundation notes that Kirill«s chances of beating the disease are high if treatment is carried out in full. The boy has a dream — to become a designer, and now to achieve it he needs to »rebuild« his health.
