Sailor 'Feniks' Killed in Ukraine to Be Buried in Volgograd

In the Kamyshin district of Volgograd Oblast, preparations are underway to bid farewell to 30-year-old Viktor Nuss, who was killed in Ukraine. He volunteered in the zone of the special military operation, signing a contract from a maximum-security prison out of a sense of duty and love for his homeland. Recently, his family was informed that he had tragically died.
Information about the farewell ceremony for Viktor appeared today in Kamyshin social media groups.
«During the special military operation while carrying out a combat mission on 10 July 2026, Nuss Viktor Aleksandrovich was killed. Viktor bravely defended the Motherland and honorably fulfilled his military duty,» the authors of the post write. «He died a kind soul! Viktor was wonderful, sincere, and responsive! He was a loving son, the best brother and husband! An excellent friend and comrade! He always extended a helping hand! He will forever remain in our hearts!»
As the wife of the deceased, Liliya, told V1.RU, Viktor was serving a sentence in a maximum-security prison. According to the Kamyshin City Court records, in July 2024, Viktor Nuss was sentenced to 12 years for extortion as part of a group.
«He served in the navy, after that he ended up in prison,» his wife recounts. «In August 2024, he was seriously wounded. Then he underwent rehabilitation. He had four operations. After rehabilitation, he went back to serve, did not take a discharge. Only recently he became a junior sergeant.»
According to Liliya, Viktor died on 10 July.
«A drone hit the car, my husband was at the wheel. He managed to jump out but suffered shrapnel wounds to the head,» the woman says.
Viktor Nuss will be laid to rest with full military honors tomorrow, 21 July, in Kamyshin.
