In Tambov Oblast, the operational preventive measure «Oncoming Lane» has concluded, aimed at preventing accidents related to driving into oncoming traffic. Traffic police officers worked in an enhanced mode throughout the period: July 14, 15, and 16. Additional patrols were deployed on suburban highways, city streets, and municipal districts, as well as in places where such accidents had been previously recorded.
The operation involved 346 police officers, of which 290 were STSI employees and 57 were representatives of other services. A total of 89 targeted events were conducted, including 45 in «covert» patrol mode, where traffic inspectors discreetly monitor drivers.
According to the operation«s results, 246 drivers who drove into oncoming traffic were brought to administrative responsibility. Of these, 160 violators fell under Parts 4 and 5 of Article 12.15 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (CAO RF). The STSI once again reminded: «Every time you decide to make a risky overtake, you take responsibility not only for your own life but also for the lives of your passengers and the people in the car coming toward you. Do not rush to make thoughtless maneuvers. Be 100% sure of the safety of your overtake. Remember that a few saved minutes are not worth turning life into a tragedy.»
