Residents Complain About Broken Fountain Near Petrov Palace

Residents of Volgograd have drawn attention to a non-working fountain next to the Petrov Palace of Culture in the Soviet district. Families with children relax in the park daily, but in the hot weather they cannot cool down by the water.
Whether the fountain will resume operation soon is not yet known.

One local resident said: «As long as I remember, this fountain always worked in hot weather. And there are always many children around it. Nearby there are benches, people sit and relax. Not that the fountain gave any powerful coolness. But still. And now the fountain is not working at all. Moreover, there is water in the bowl. Most likely, it just accumulated after rain. There are no jets or splashes. And next to it stands a broken monument to Vladimir Lenin, and the Palace of Culture itself is not in the best shape. And once it was truly a well-maintained recreation area for residents of the Soviet district.»
The Volgograd administration is clarifying the reasons for the fountain«s shutdown and the timeline for its restoration.
Last week, an updated fountain «Children»s Round Dance« was returned to Privokzalnaya Square. The new bronze sculptures of children have become more authentic and closer to the original vision of the authors. During a working visit, the governor noted the decorative lighting imitating water jets. The fountain has not yet been started.
