Over 380 TMK Employees Honored on Metallurgist Day

Metallurgist Day in the Chelyabinsk Region is a special date. For thousands of Southern Urals residents, it is not only a professional holiday but a family one: entire working dynasties often receive congratulations. Each year, the enterprises of the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) in Chelyabinsk prepare a rich program for adults and children and honor the best workers in the industry. What are metallurgists like? Young specialists with burning eyes and seasoned masters who have dedicated decades to their beloved work, engineers and workers, innovators and guardians of the best production traditions. But all of them are people with steely character and big hearts: watch the holiday footage and see for yourself.

'Together We Can Do Anything'

As is tradition, on Metallurgist Day, TMK recognizes the professional achievements of its employees. This time, more than 380 workers from the company's Chelyabinsk enterprises received corporate, regional, and industry awards.

“The Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant has been a role model for the entire metallurgical industry for over 80 years. We always strive to create new things, achieve high production results, improve, and through our collective work prove: together we can do anything! I thank each of you for your dedication and love for your chosen work and your contribution to achieving common goals, for always being reliable. You are a reliable, united team, and I am proud of each of you!” — congratulated the employees ChTPZ Managing Director Yevgeny Gubanov.
A Certificate of Honor from the Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant was received by crane operator of Workshop No. 5, Olga Mikhailovna Botnikova. She has been working at the enterprise for 39 years — she chose this seemingly tough profession in her youth and has never regretted it.
“Nothing is difficult for a Russian woman; everything yields to her,” Olga smiles. “I came to the production line very young, still a young girl. Thanks to good mentors, I improved my skills. I love my job, my workshop, and my team!”
Mainstay and Support of the Region
On the stage of the ChTPZ Palace of Culture, the plant workers received the main industry and state awards: the titles “Honored Metallurgist” and “Merited Worker of TMK,” certificates from the Legislative Assembly of the Chelyabinsk Region, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, and thanks from the governor. Representatives of city and regional authorities came to congratulate the team on their professional holiday.
“Metallurgy is the backbone industry of the Chelyabinsk Region's economy, the foundation of the region's industrial might. And the Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant is an enterprise with strong traditions, a professional team, and high development potential. It is especially important that the plant not only works confidently in the face of modern challenges but also consistently upgrades production, introduces advanced solutions, and implements major investment and environmental projects. This is a contribution not only to the development of the Southern Urals but also to strengthening the country's technological independence. I am confident that the enterprise will continue to achieve significant results, maintaining its leading position in the industry,” emphasized First Deputy Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Ivan Kutsevlyak.
Metal heater of Workshop No. 1 at ChTPZ, Yuri Mikhailov, received the high title “Honored Metallurgist.” He says that for 33 years, his main inspiration at work has been the support of his family.
“My parents worked in Workshop No. 1 at ChTPZ. I came to the plant in 1993 after graduating from Vocational School No. 10 with a degree in 'roller operator.' I started as a simple heater, grew to senior heater. And now I am happy to pass on my knowledge and skills to the young generation of pipe workers,” said Yuri Mikhailov.
A Family Affair
Continuity of generations is not just beautiful words for the plant workers. At ChTPZ, there are families whose total work experience exceeds several hundred years. For 18 years, they have been holding the corporate competition “Working Dynasty.” This year, the Purbeev family won. Its representatives launched the legendary “Stiefel” mill in the second workshop of ChTPZ and mastered the production of large-diameter pipes at “Vysota 239.” The founder of the dynasty, Basan Mutaevich Purbeev, came to the plant in 1943, where he met his future wife. Following him, his sons and grandchildren chose the profession of metallurgist. The total work experience of the family at the enterprise is 172 years.
A Bright Holiday for the Whole Family
The holiday continued with the “Okroshka Festival” (a summer cold soup competition), where nine plant teams prepared a summer dish according to their own signature recipes and competed for the title of the best. Then it moved to the stands. Sports are loved and supported at ChTPZ: Chelyabinsk pipes were used in the construction of Olympic facilities in Sochi, and among the plant workers themselves there are many professional athletes and amateurs. At the “Voskhod” stadium, the finals of the summer football championship, a volleyball “All-Star Game,” and kettlebell lifting competitions took place.
For the children of TMK employees, a separate holiday was organized near the ChTPZ Palace of Culture with performances by creative groups, games, and an open-air disco. Future first-graders received certificates for the purchase of school supplies.
Behind production records, new technologies, and large-scale projects are always people. Metallurgist Day is, first and foremost, a holiday for those who, through their work, experience, and responsibility, daily ensure the development of the company and the region.
