Omsk Day: 310 Events and Star Guests Announced

Omsk is preparing for the main event of this summer — the celebration of the city«s 310th anniversary. The festivities will last three days — from July 31 to August 2. Already on Friday, July 31, Klava Koka will perform at Cathedral Square with support from Vector Fest.

The main events await Omsk residents on August 1. A large festive concert will take place at Cathedral Square. First, at 7:30 p.m., popular Soviet-era performer Andrey Derzhavin — founder of the group Stalker — will take the stage. The evening will conclude with a performance by Olga Seryabkina, starting at 9:30 p.m.

The concert will be part of a large-scale celebration under the slogan «One for all — cultural capital.» Over three days, the city will turn into a large cultural venue: residents and guests can expect about 310 events — exactly as many years as Omsk celebrates this year. Festive venues will operate at Cathedral Square, Lyubinsky Prospekt, Victory Square, Victory Park, squares, and other city spaces.

Concerts, exhibitions, theatrical performances, fairs, and street programs will take place in the city center. More than 4,000 people are involved in organizing the celebration, and over 400 creative groups will perform for Omsk residents.

The main festive day, August 1, will open with the traditional Siberian International Marathon. The start of the track and field athletes will take place at 8:00 a.m., accompanied by a symphony orchestra.

Then, from 12:00 p.m., thematic venues will begin operating in the city. At 1:00 p.m., a concert program dedicated to national cultures will take place on the stage near the Vrubel Museum. At the same time, venues under the general theme «One for all — cultural capital. Omsk: theater, fashion, music» will open on pedestrian Lyubinsky Prospekt. Residents can visit a family leisure festival, circus art venues, and many other events. At 3:00 p.m., the best songs dedicated to Omsk will be performed on Lyubinsky Prospekt.

Another feature of the holiday will be a giant game library. More than 100 board games, divided into five thematic blocks, have been prepared for guests. It will operate on Museum Street from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The municipal libraries are organizing the game library.

The «Flora» exhibition will not take place in its usual format this year, but Omsk residents will be able to see rare plants by visiting the Genze Garden.

«I want to warn you. This year, we will not turn residents and guests onto Partizanskaya Street, because, as you all know, renovation work is currently underway there,» Inna Eletskaya, Deputy Mayor of Omsk, said at a press conference.

Festive events will take place not only in Omsk but throughout the region. Since last year, Omsk Region Day and Omsk City Day are celebrated on the same day. Concerts with the participation of creative groups will also be held in municipal districts.
