Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin spent the weekend on working trips, visiting Diveyevo and Arzamas districts. He checked the condition of hospitals, schools and public spaces; the results were reported by the press service of the regional government.
In Arzamas, the head of the region inspected the Central City Hospital, which includes polyclinics, a children«s health center, an oncology outpatient clinic and other departments. Since 2023, a regional vascular center has been operating on its premises, where patients from 17 municipalities are referred.
Nikitin instructed the Ministry of Health to allocate funds in the 2027 budget for the purchase of additional equipment for the vascular center and to present a hospital development plan for the coming years. Soon this facility should become a key institution for residents of neighboring districts.
The governor recalled his first visit to Arzamas Central District Hospital during the coronavirus pandemic. According to him, the medical facility made a poor impression at that time, and they had to urgently address the ventilation issue in the infectious diseases building. “And now, after some time, I am here again. The situation has changed dramatically. Everywhere there are new windows, modern examination couches, the latest equipment. The regional vascular center is operating, and it makes the most incredible impression,” the governor wrote.
In addition to the hospital, Nikitin checked the progress of the reconstruction of Secondary School No. 1 named after M. Gorky and inspected the improved public spaces. Special attention was drawn to Gaidarovsky Pond, opened in May — the reservoir was cleaned, the area was tidied up, and a carved wooden goose statue 185 cm (6 ft 1 in) tall, which is a symbol of the city, was installed.
Together with Arzamas Mayor Alexander Shchelokov, the governor discussed current development programs, maintenance of facilities, prospects for the Drama Theater building, the creation of the V.F. Genebart Museum, and the implementation of projects under the «You Decide!» program.
In the Diveyevo district, Nikitin visited the Central District Hospital, where about 110 million rubles ($1.1 million at current rates) have been allocated for modernization in recent years. The wiring was completely replaced, the reception desk and some departments were renovated, new equipment and vehicles were purchased. Renovation work is planned to be completed in 2027.
The governor also visited the Diveyevo and Elizaryevo schools, where major renovations are underway. In Elizaryevo, the school is essentially being built anew — the old building was demolished, a new foundation for a gymnasium was poured, and a boiler room was installed. “The work is now in the home stretch. The facility will be handed over by the end of December,” said Gleb Nikitin.
