New Head Doctor Appointed for Volgograd Psychiatric Hospital After Orderly's Killing

The regional health committee announced the appointment of a new chief physician at the Volgograd Regional Psychiatric Hospital No. 1. A few days before the New Year, an orderly was killed by patients at the clinic.

«Igor Valeryevich Kondratyev has been appointed chief physician of the State Budgetary Healthcare Institution »Volgograd Regional Psychiatric Hospital No. 1« in the Kalachevsky district, Lozhki station,» according to the health department«s statement. »Igor Kondratyev received a diploma from the Volgograd State Medical University in 2004, completed an internship in psychiatry in 2005, underwent professional retraining in «Psychiatry and Narcology» in 2019 and in healthcare organization and public health in 2020. He holds current specialist certificates in «psychiatry-narcology», «psychiatry», and «healthcare organization and public health».«

The department notes that from 2005, he worked as a psychiatrist at the Municipal Healthcare Institution «Kamyshin Psychiatric Hospital», from 2006 to 2013 as a psychiatrist and district psychiatrist at the State Budgetary Healthcare Institution «Volgograd Regional Psychiatric Hospital No. 7» in Kamyshin, and from 2013 to 2015, he headed the male psychiatric department of the same hospital.

From 2016 to 2018, he was the head of the inpatient psychiatric department at the State Budgetary Healthcare Institution «Volgograd Regional Psychiatric Hospital No. 6» in Volzhsky, and from 2018 until his appointment, he worked as the head of a branch of the State Budgetary Healthcare Institution «Volgograd Regional Clinical Psychiatric Hospital No. 2» in Kamyshin.

Recall that an emergency at the Volgograd Regional Psychiatric Hospital No. 1, located in the Kalachevsky district in the Lugovskoy hamlet, occurred early in the morning of December 27. There, a convicted patient stabbed an orderly, took his keys, and escaped. A second patient, taking advantage of the moment, fled with him. Both were detained on the same day. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the attacker under the article «Murder». However, law enforcement agencies remained silent until the information about the emergency spread beyond the settlement. After the incident, the former chief physician of the clinic, Olga Zhigunova, left her post.
