The Novosibirsk city hall announced the number of Novosibirsk residents placed in the sobering-up station on Old Highway during the January holidays. The majority of them were men.

As reported by NGS in the city hall press center, from January 1 to 12, 88 people were placed in the «Specialized Center for Temporary Stay to Assist Persons in a State of Alcoholic, Narcotic, and Other Toxic Intoxication.» Among them were 84 men and four women.

All were assisted in natural sobering up. Medical staff conducted initial examinations, helped them orient themselves in space, provided individual sleeping places, and ensured a water-drinking regimen.

As reported by NGS, more than half of those who end up in the sobering-up station spend from 12 to 24 hours there. Most often, patients are delivered in the evening and at night.

In September 2023, NGS showed what the sobering-up station looks like from the inside. The first and only specialized center for the entire city began operating after a 13-year break.
