Man detained with cannabis in Yuzhnouralsk

As part of the operational and preventive measure “Poppy-2026,” officers from the Drug Control Department of the Interdistrict Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Yuzhnouralsky” detained a 36-year-old man. Suspicion fell on him while he was on a bridge over the Uvelka River. During a personal search, police seized a plant mass from his backpack. The detainee was taken to the police department for investigation.

An expert examination confirmed that the plant mass was cannabis. Its total weight exceeded 100 grams. During questioning, the man stated that he had collected the cannabis on the riverbank for personal use and did not intend to sell it. A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect under Part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Police officers remind residents of the region to report facts of illegal drug trafficking and locations where wild narcotic plants grow by calling 02 or 102.
