A look at the bustling weekday life in Ufa's newest high-rise district, which was a wasteland just a decade ago.

Walking through different districts of Ufa has become a habit for us; life there can vary greatly depending on the time of day. And it«s very interesting to know what happens there in the middle of weekdays, while everyone is at work. This time, one of the newest neighborhoods was chosen for exploration.
Across the street, a large hypermarket shares its name with the district.

Planeta is the youngest and tallest district in the city, with very atypical architecture. Instead of Soviet-era panel buildings, there are «skyscrapers» all around, and all gazes are directed upward—a true kingdom of glass and concrete. In the center is the Palace of Wrestling with its columns, which has strangely integrated organically here.

Yet just about 10 years ago, this was a wasteland, not residential premises. Now it«s a true bedroom district—in the middle of a workday, it»s quite quiet and peaceful. On playgrounds, almost no one is around. It immediately catches the eye that mostly young people live in the area. Even the usual pensioners going shopping are noticeably fewer. However, there are quite a lot of young mothers with their children.
The urban landscape of Planeta draws comparisons to dense metropolitan areas.

Within the Planeta microdistrict, there are quite a few small shops that try to update their assortment during the weekday so that working Ufa residents have something to buy in the evening. Here also stands the Ufa «monster house»—a huge residential high-rise with 1,416 apartments inside. Life always bustles around it: someone went out for a walk, someone returned from school, and someone had lunch delivered by a courier.

Construction around the district is still ongoing. New houses as well as educational institutions are rising upward. And meeting schoolchildren on local streets is a common occurrence. Currently, there are two schools here—one of them is new and has not been officially opened yet.

The New Year«s hustle has come to an end, and snow removal is actively underway in the courtyards. One of the tractor drivers even got agitated at the sight of the camera. For some reason, he thought the filming was aimed at later fining those who park incorrectly.

Snow piles here are almost as high as the houses, although overall the streets are cleared quite well. But parking spaces clearly aren«t enough for everyone.
