At a meeting with leaders of the search team «Liza Alert» on January 20, the head of Leningrad Oblast, Alexander Drozdenko, announced a set of measures to support volunteers. One of the key promises is the provision of a specialized site for practicing search skills using unmanned aerial vehicles. As a possible location for such training, the territory of the former «Veshchevo» airport in the Vyborg district is being considered. «The effectiveness of using UAVs here has fully justified itself, and the ability to check images with AI has sped up the process many times over,» emphasized the governor.
A search and rescue team conducts training exercises using an unmanned aerial vehicle to improve efficiency.
It is also planned to sign regulations that will streamline the interaction of volunteers with regional security structures, including the «112» service and emergency rescue units. To increase efficiency during the first, most critical hours of searches, volunteers will be provided with heated headquarters, allowing them to work longer and cover larger areas.
Another agreement that the authorities intend to conclude concerns the social sphere. It will allow searchers to receive anonymized data about patients admitted to hospitals without identification documents. This could help in locating missing persons.
Alexander Drozdenko expressed his intention to personally join the winter exercises of the volunteers. «And I invite all concerned residents to take part. This is exactly the case where knowledge won»t hurt anyone, and the benefit is measured in saved lives,« he added.
