In Kurgan today, January 21, classes for grades 1 to 4 of the morning shift in city schools have been cancelled. This was reported on the city administration«s website. This morning in Kurgan, it was -25°C (-13°F). This afternoon, temperatures will range from -21 to -26°C (-6 to -15°F), with a northeast wind of 4-9 m/s.

Some areas may experience frosts dipping as low as -43°C (-45°F).

The administration«s website also notes that classes will be conducted using distance learning technologies. Incidentally, Kurgan parents were recently outraged by the implementation of such measures. We reported on this here.

According to Trans-Ural meteorologists, from January 21 to 26, anomalously cold weather is expected in most districts of Kurgan Oblast, with average daily air temperatures 7°C (13°F) or more below the climatic norm.

On the night of January 22, air temperatures are expected to be -31 to -36°C (-24 to -33°F), and on January 23, -33 to -38°C (-27 to -36°F), with lows in depressions down to -43°C (-45°F), as noted on the website of the Kurgan Central Hydrometeorological Service.
