Krasnoyarsk's Record Spots and Beeline's 4G Enhancements

Krasnoyarsk Krai is renowned for its many achievements, set by both ordinary residents and businesses. Telecom operator Beeline, in turn, set its own performance record in the region. Over the past two years, it has installed over 1,600 base stations. That«s approximately two new sites every day. Beeline has never undertaken such extensive construction in the region before.

Alexander Nechayenko, technical director of Beeline in Krasnoyarsk Krai, offers a virtual tour to places where connectivity was enhanced over the past two years. Each location is both a significant regional achievement and a unique technological solution.

Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station

The Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station is one of the most powerful hydroelectric plants not only in Russia but in the entire world. This energy giant provides electricity to millions of residents in the krai. In 2023, the power station set a productivity record — over 55 years of operation, it has generated one trillion kilowatt-hours.
— On the shore of the Krasnoyarsk Sea, formed by the construction of the hydroelectric station, one of the favorite summer recreation spots for Krasnoyarsk residents has emerged. In 2025, Beeline increased network coverage and capacity in the Shumikha Bay area for guests and staff of numerous holiday bases. We calculated the location for installing a new base station taking into account the topographic features of the area, terrain, and development to ensure the widest possible coverage and high network reliability during warm, sunny days when the network load in this area increases multiple times, — shares Alexander Nechayenko, technical director of Beeline in Krasnoyarsk Krai.
Central Embankment
The city«s Central Embankment often ranks among the most beautiful, well-maintained, and longest embankments in Russia. Located along the country»s most full-flowing river, the Yenisei, the embankment has become the city«s calling card, a hub for attraction and various events. Here in 2020, during Maslenitsa festivities, a record for mass dousing was set: 400 people simultaneously poured four tons of water (approximately 8,818 lb) on themselves.
— Across the entire Krasnoyarsk Krai, the regional capital, and the embankment in particular, our intelligent Self Optimized Network (SON) system is responsible for distributing network load. Artificial intelligence analyzes where more subscribers are located and decides to redistribute network resources. If an initiative group wants to break the set record and gather in even greater numbers, our network will be ready for high load — the new achievement will fly onto the Internet without unnecessary delays, — noted Alexander Nechayenko.
Yeniseysk
The oldest city in Krasnoyarsk Krai, which is also among the ten oldest cities in Siberia. «The father of Siberian cities» has over 400 years of history and continues to preserve unique historical and cultural heritage. For instance, a resident of Yeniseysk collected more than 1,300 planes in his collection, thanks to which he entered the record books and created a museum.
Here and in about 200 other settlements in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Beeline launched or improved 4G connectivity for the first time. Over the past two years, thousands of residents in the region gained access to Beeline«s mobile communication, and with it, to modern internet services.
— We prioritize developing fourth-generation communication as more technological and modern. 4G connectivity allows local residents to communicate with loved ones, use messengers, social networks, video platforms, and government services without the need to travel to district centers. Mobile communication in these settlements is deployed using the most modern technologies. For example, high sound quality during calls is achieved through the use of VoLTE technology. Voice over LTE creates a presence effect, as if the speakers are in the same room, — says Alexander.
Shushenskoye
Ask a Krasnoyarsk resident where V.I. Lenin served his exile, and they will likely, without much thought, name Shushenskoye. Nowadays, Shushenskoye is famous for its open-air museum, introducing the traditional life of a Russian izba (peasant house) from the late 19th century. It«s no surprise that this settlement became the venue for the »World of Siberia« International Festival of Ethnic Music and Crafts (a cultural event). The large-scale event gathers tens of thousands of guests year after year, and in 2024 it set its own record: 90,000 people attended the festival.
— Analysis and load forecasting is an important stage in building and maintaining network reliability. The population of Shushenskoye increases up to five times during the days of this event. On normal days, our coverage here is sufficient, but the festival implies an atypical surge in activity for this area. For this, we need to specifically strengthen the network. In such situations, we additionally install a mobile base station, helping our clients share emotions online without delay, — said the technical director of Beeline in Krasnoyarsk Krai.
Staircase to Torgashinsky Ridge
1,683 — for Krasnoyarsk residents, this is more than just numbers. It«s another reason for pride. After all, that»s how many steps the longest staircase in Russia has, leading to the Torgashinsky Ridge in Krasnoyarsk. The total path length is 1,200 meters (approximately 3,937 ft).
— Very often in our work, to solve tasks, we need to find non-standard paths. To provide connectivity for the Torgashinsky staircase, the communication antenna was installed with a negative tilt angle — it «looks at the sky,» whereas in the vast majority of cases the antenna looks down at the subscriber from above. We placed the equipment on a low building and directed it upward, along the staircase that ascends the ridge to the viewing platform, — comments Alexander Nechayenko.
Krasnoyarsk Stolby National Park
This unique natural landmark holds the oldest record in our selection, but no less important for that. In the summer of 1851, enthusiasts conquered the pyramid of First Pillar (87 meters or 285 ft) — this is Russia«s first sports record, from which the history of rock climbing in the country is commonly counted.
— Annually, about 1 million tourists visit «Krasnoyarsk Stolby.» Meanwhile, during peak periods on weekends, up to 20,000 visitors pass along the most popular route, «Central Stolby.» For them, this year, connectivity was improved on the approach to the park itself, as well as in the area of First and Second Pillars and the «Narym» science-popular complex. To allow the network to simultaneously serve a large number of clients using internet services, we periodically apply another proven solution — we conduct refarming. In the refarming process, we redistribute our available frequency resources in favor of the most in-demand 4G. Thereby, we make services more accessible and additionally prepare the network for growing load. This is especially important in hikes, when having a reliable signal is equivalent to safety, — noted Alexander Nechayenko.
* Self Optimized Networks = self-optimizing network.
