Kopeysk Completes Major Overhaul of Women's Health Center
Not just a medical facility, but a new space of care, safety, and inspiration. After a major overhaul in Kopeysk, a women«s consultation center has opened at 69 Fourth Five-Year Plan Street. Now it is a full-fledged ecosystem for women»s health care — from diagnosis and inpatient care to procedure rooms and creative classes.
Governor Alexey Texler personally inquired about what doctors think of the global transformation and whether expectant mothers are satisfied.
«Every expectant mother needs to feel safety and support. That»s why in Kopeysk, the women«s consultation center wasn»t just repaired, but made into a place of coziness and comfort. Here, they pay attention not only to medical care, but also care for women in general: creative classes for expectant mothers are held here, day hospitals operate, and there is a medical and social support office. Psychologists and other specialists help. I spoke with wonderful patients. I heard positive feedback about the renovation,« said the head of the region.
Following the Example of the Best Clinics
It«s hard to believe, but just a year and a half ago, this building only vaguely resembled a women»s space. Patients had to put up with inconveniences, expectant mothers waited for appointments in semi-dark narrow corridors, huddled on uncomfortable benches. And doctors used outdated equipment.
Today, the women«s consultation center of City Hospital No. 1 in Kopeysk is unrecognizable. Spacious halls, soft sofas, convenient arrangement of offices, modern medical equipment, and plenty of light.
The three-story building was constructed in 1991, and since then, no major renovation had been carried out. The update began in October 2024. Funds for the reconstruction were allocated from the regional budget.
«After 35 years of use, the building, of course, required a global update. From the regional budget, over 54 million rubles (approximately $600,000 at current rates) were allocated for the capital repair. We studied the experience of colleagues in the best clinics in the country, including Moscow ones, and applied modern planning solutions: we removed extra walls and cramped offices, focusing on spaciousness and comfort for women,» comments Chief Physician of City Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Kopeysk Alexey Aleshkevich.
New Interior
The institution has transformed both inside and out. Builders completely restored the engineering framework: replaced all networks, power supply, and installed a smart thermal point that automatically adjusts the temperature in the rooms. For safety and communication, a modern fire alarm system was implemented.
The roof was repaired, the facade was updated, and the surrounding area was landscaped. For residents with limited mobility and mothers with strollers, a barrier-free environment is provided.
From Consultation to Creativity
This consultation center accepts women from all over Kopeysk and nearby villages.
After the update, the full-fledged health center is designed for 40,000 visits per year. Six obstetric-gynecological districts have been organized, each assigned up to 8,000 women, including about 70 pregnant women under dispensary observation. A specialized children«s appointment with a doctor — an obstetrician-gynecologist — is separately allocated.
Specialists are confident: preparing for childbirth is not only medical tests but also psychological attitude. Expectant mothers are prepared for the birth of their first child: classes on breastfeeding and childbirth preparation are conducted.
The highlight of the consultation center has become creative meetings. For patients, master classes with professional art historians and teacher-artists are organized. Expectant mothers try themselves in painting. Specialists say this is excellent art therapy to distract from daily worries, get inspired, and tune in to harmonious motherhood.
«They are not drawing alone now, they are drawing with their baby, and this is very important for both them and the child. They gain tone and vital energy, they smile,» shared the master class organizer.
«Did I Come to the Right Place?»
The main critics of the updated women«s consultation center were the residents of Kopeysk themselves. Some even couldn»t believe they had come to the right address.
«One of our patients, while filling out documents, asked: »Did I come to the right place? It feels like I«m in a capital city paid clinic,»« says administrator Yulia Sergeeva.
Women admit that they come to appointments with pleasure.
«Whether it was the old building or now, it»s like night and day,« says Yekaterina Belemyanova.
«Doctors are polite, courteous. They even help put on shoe covers at the entrance,» rejoices Natalya Khudinova.
«Clean, cozy, I come with pleasure,» admits Yevgenia Borodulina.
Supporting mothers and babies is one of the main tasks in the work of the government of Chelyabinsk Region.
«We are now paying special attention to demographic issues. It is important that during pregnancy, a woman receives all the necessary help from specialists. Such modern centers solve this task. We will continue work throughout the region, we will improve the material and technical base and create all conditions so that families with children, large families in our region become more and more,» summarized the head of the region.
