'Kill him, finish him off!' Teen beaten in Volgograd

The mother of a brutally beaten 15-year-old teenager in central Volgograd shared details of the evening when her son returned home and refused to go to the hospital: «Mom, they»ll come, they«ll kill me.» After this incident, as Anastasia says, the attackers continue to walk around the city and remain unpunished. Moreover, the beating of the schoolboy was preceded by another violent attack on teenagers, which was filmed on video. Watching this video to the end, as Anastasia admits, she lacks the strength.

The incident in one of the courtyards on Sovetskaya Street became known on the evening of June 28. Then eyewitnesses reported: a crowd of teenagers brutally beat a peer.

— In the courtyard of the house, a 15-year-old teenager was beaten by individuals who identified themselves as «seniors from Traktorny» and members of a group of some «Kosoy». The child has a traumatic brain injury. He is in the hospital, — said a reader. — They threatened to kill him and his family if they filed a police report.

Investigators opened a criminal case, and the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered to report to him everything known about this fight. Later it became known: this case was preceded by another, when the same teenagers humiliated and beat a peer, filming everything on video. The mothers of the affected schoolchildren, who are now trying to punish their sons« offenders to the fullest extent, contacted the editorial office.

«You promised not to touch him»

Anastasia Gordeeva recalls: that evening, her son went for a walk with his friends. He was supposed to return home around 10:00 PM. The woman started messaging him, but the schoolboy didn«t answer. An hour later, Egor was brought home by his friend. Then Anastasia learned what had happened to her son a few hours earlier.

— My son and his friends were sitting at «Dodo Pizza» on the Alley of Heroes. They all study at the same gymnasium, — says Anastasia. — There was a misunderstanding between the children — Yulia and my son. They started throwing sunflower seeds at each other, there was no real conflict. Yulia took offense, approached another group of guys who had come to the center from the Traktorozavodsky district. The camera shows Yulia entering the arch. Then they all approached my son together. Just a few minutes pass, and my son is led to the first spot. There was a big crowd there, people started gathering.

According to Anastasia, her son was taken to the playground in the courtyard of house No. 11 on Sovetskaya Street. In the same courtyard is the public reception office of «United Russia». The moment when Egor«s classmate started screaming and calling for help was captured on video.

— Egor says he didn«t even understand how he started fighting with Maratik. My son says: »I missed one, then a second.« My son got angry, knocked him to the ground, held him down, and he told him: »If you don«t let me go now, it»ll be worse.« My son let him go, — says the woman. — He gets up and starts hitting my son. Yulia was screaming very loudly at that moment, she tried to protect Egor: »You promised not to touch him.« After that, police officers approach them, turn on their flashlights, because it was already dark. Part of the crowd runs away.

When I was lying on the ground, Maratka hit me in the head with his elbows. I tried to cover myself with my hands. Yulia tried to push everyone away from me, screaming and crying. Police officers arrived. I got up, Maratka told me: «Stand still and don»t say anything.« I was very weak. Maratka started talking to the officers and told them that all the participants in the fight had run away. The police officers stayed in place, and Maratka led me to another courtyard. Two guys I didn»t know approached, they looked about 16 years old. They asked what had happened. Maratka briefly explained the situation and added that someone from our group of guys had insulted his friend«s mother. But that wasn»t true, he made it up.

However, the unexpected appearance of police officers did not faze the attackers. After that, they dragged Egor to the courtyard of a house adjacent to the Volgograd administration and the regional court — at Lenina, 6.

— They asked Egor: «Call your friends, let them come, let»s sort it out.« It was clear they wanted a fight. After that, they went to look for Egor»s friends, — says Anastasia. — The same way, through the arch, they returned to «Dodo», and from there they went to Gorsad.

Maratka hit me in the head with his fists and elbows. Another one joined the fight, hit me in the head with a fist or palm, I don«t remember exactly. After that, they sat me on a flowerbed, but I kept falling. He told me to get up and hit me again. Then his friends came and also started hitting me in the head and stomach. There were three of them.

According to Egor, while he was being led to Gorsad, he was threatened: if anyone found out about this, he and his family would be in trouble.

Maratka threatened that I would be taken away in the trunk, and it would all end badly. In Gorsad, he continued to beat me. After that, he told his acquaintance to beat me too. He hit me in the head, I was lying on the ground. Then he started strangling me, Maratka said to strangle me to the end. Maratka told me to kneel and apologize, I didn«t do it, but he forced me. When I was on my knees, I got kicked in the »Adam«s apple». All this was filmed on video. When I apologized, Maratka hit me in the head again. He said that if anyone found out about this, I would be found and killed, and everyone I knew would be killed. After that, he told me to run.

«They»ll come to the hospital, they«ll kill me»

Anastasia recalls: Egor came home with abrasions and bruises, a swollen face, but he almost begged her to stay home and refused to go to the hospital.

— You can«t imagine what it was like. He said it shouldn»t be done: «They»ll come to the hospital, they«ll kill me,» «Mom, don»t leave the house.« So much was said, — says the woman. — I»ve never screamed like that, I think the whole house heard us. The kid went to the hospital only when he saw my inadequate state. At that moment, I just completely stopped thinking. Good thing a friend was nearby, because I was a vegetable.

According to Anastasia, her son was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury and multiple bruises, and she began her own investigation: she walked around the courtyards, obtained video from cameras, and looked for eyewitnesses. The woman got the impression that law enforcement was in no hurry to help her.

— There was another incident: someone from this group broke a boy«s nose at »Dodo«. They forced him to transfer 200 rubles. It was on the evening of June 2. But he didn»t tell his parents, and the injuries weren«t registered, — says Anastasia. — When I told the juvenile affairs inspector about it, she replied: »And what? I don«t have a statement.» No statement, no work, everything«s fine. I got the impression that our children aren»t really needed by anyone. I had to get the camera recordings myself. The juvenile affairs officers didn«t even write a request. I have a feeling they won»t lock anyone up again. What will happen to these children next?

«My child could have been beaten to death»

Shortly before Egor«s beating, in early April, these same »seniors from Traktorny« beat up another teenager.

— This group from the Traktorozavodsky district came to the city center and established their own rules. They meet at 5 Alley of Heroes — that«s their spot. Why they don»t put duty officers there separately, I don«t understand, — says Zhanna, the mother of the beaten boy. — Two weeks before the beating, my son had a confrontation with these guys. One day, he broke up a fight and pulled one of the guys away. For that, he immediately got punched in the face. Then the one who hit my son apologized to him and said the incident was over; they shook hands.

However, two weeks later, as Zhanna says, they came for her son too.

— My son gets a call from an unknown boy. It turned out to be Anastasia«s son. Egor, under threats from these guys, said: »Come, they«re calling you to a meeting.» My son says he won«t go anywhere. Then the boy my son had pulled away calls him and tells him how to live, and that he needs to come, otherwise it»ll be worse, — says Zhanna. — My son thought he was just coming to talk, as he was told on the phone. My son approaches the one he had separated. He starts getting aggressive. A friend of that guy comes up and starts pushing my son. My son falls, hitting his head on a bench. Then they pair him with another guy, supposedly his equal. Mine got into a stance, the other attacks him. Everyone chants: «Take him down! Take him down! Hit him in the face! Kill him!» My son takes several hits to the head and falls to the ground. The beating itself lasted no more than a minute. He would have killed him if it had gone on longer.

Judging by the footage, two teenagers were pushed into the center of the playground, becoming entertainment for the gathered crowd. Amid wild screams, the boy was knocked to the ground and beaten with fists and feet, even when the teenager made a «stop» sign with his hand.

— Kill him, damn it!

— Strangle him, strangle him, come on, come on!

— Beat him, beat him!

— Hit him with the knee, with the knee.

— Finish him, finish him, finish him off to the end!

— When I rewatch this video, I can«t imagine that»s my son there. I just treat it technically, as evidence: «Foot here, hand here, so many hits,» — admits Zhanna. — Nobody tried to do anything. Nobody tried not just to separate them, but even to scream and call for help. Such beatings happen regularly, we just don«t know about them. That»s what«s scary. My child could have been beaten to death. I still get goosebumps. Because I imagine what could have been.

According to Zhanna, her son is still undergoing treatment. Before the OGE (basic state exam), he had nose surgery, and now the teenager has started having stomach problems due to stress.

— He was in shock, he didn«t fully feel the pain yet. They were really trying to hit him in the face and head. One hit to the temple and you»re down for good, — says the woman.

A criminal case was opened on this situation. It is currently being reviewed in court. The defendant is a 16-year-old teenager who, according to Zhanna, has lost both parents — he is being raised by his grandmother. Maratka, who had previously beaten Egor and this time gave instructions, is listed as a witness in this case. Both remain free.

— I think they can still become normal people. They just have their priorities messed up somewhere. Apparently, no one explained to them what is good and what is bad, — reflects Zhanna. — The defendant in our case is an orphan. His mother died in May, and his father in 2020. The grandmother is left with five grandchildren. She started asking for forgiveness, I feel sorry for her from a human standpoint. But he sat there and didn«t say a word. I tell him: »What do you have to say?« He stays silent. When the judge said this isn»t a kindergarten and silence won«t work, he said: »Sorry for hitting you.« And lowered his head.
