After snowfalls that forced schools to switch to remote learning, frost has arrived, which could again keep students at home — but under certain conditions.

Starting tomorrow, all schools and kindergartens will resume normal operations, the Kazan city administration announced.

«Schools and kindergartens are returning to their usual in-person mode. Classes in art, sports, music schools, schools of arts, cultural centers, and teen clubs will be held remotely,» clarified the city administration.

Extending remote learning during the frost is not planned. However, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan (Minobrnauki RT) explained to 116.RU that all schools have been sent recommendations specifying temperatures at which children may skip classes.

«Schools are operating normally. Depending on the temperature, parents decide independently whether to send their child to school or not,» noted the ministry.

Physical education lessons can be conducted outdoors:

for elementary school students — when the air temperature is not lower than minus three degrees Celsius (27°F) and wind speed is no more than 6-10 meters per second;

  • for high school students — not lower than minus 10 degrees Celsius (14°F) and wind no stronger than 6-10 meters per second.

    At the same time, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan recommends suspending school bus transportation at temperatures of -25 degrees Celsius (-13°F) and below.

    Recall that Minobrnauki RT previously reported in which cases schoolchildren may not attend classes. The temperatures at which school classes should be canceled differ somewhat for city and village residents.

    Since Friday, the «Buran» plan has been in effect in Kazan. Due to this, students of educational institutions were switched to remote learning until February 3 inclusive. The city hall warned that snow removal may take more time. In Kazan, to improve street clearing, a new snow removal method has begun to be implemented.
