Yekaterinburg man jailed for sex with 12-year-old

In Yekaterinburg, a 24-year-old man was sent to a penal colony on charges of indecent acts (Part 2 of Article 135 of the Russian Criminal Code) against a 12-year-old girl. According to investigators, the teenage girl performed oral sex on him and only then admitted her real age. Before that, he believed she was over 16. Here are the details.

According to lawyer Alexander Shumilov, whose legal partnership represented the convicted man, the man met the girl in a Telegram channel. Her avatar had no photos.

«He wrote to her: »Need a big experienced lover?« She replied: »Yes.« They corresponded for a while, then met. After the first meeting, their messages became more explicit and intimate. On the second meeting, they hugged and kissed. On the third, she touched his genitals. And on the fourth, according to the man, she willingly performed oral sex, and as the cherry on top, said she was 12. When I asked, perplexed, the convict said he thought she was over 16,» said Alexander Shumilov.

Upon learning her real age, the man cut off contact with the teenager. However, six months later he was arrested.

«The girl boasted to a friend that she had grown up, and that friend told the school. The teacher found out, and it all started. One oddity: the girl»s parents did not react at all. They didn«t get in touch, didn»t threaten him. According to the man, the girl complained that they drank. The man seems normal, no quirks. He«s an IT specialist. His mother has heart problems, his father is disabled. He says he has had this trait since birth—an inability to distinguish ages. However, an expert examination refuted that he couldn»t tell ages,« Shumilov continued.

This spring, the defendant was sentenced to five years in a general-regime penal colony.

«I condemn any indecent acts with minors. But I want to understand the balance of the punishment. He must be held accountable, and the child needs psychological help,» the lawyer concluded.
