Izhevsk man gets 9 years for partner's death
The Industrial District Court of Izhevsk sentenced a 40-year-old man to 9 years in prison for beating his partner, who died as a result.

In January 2025, during an argument, the defendant struck his partner multiple times with his fists and feet to the head and chest. From the injuries sustained—a closed traumatic brain injury and multiple rib fractures—the woman soon died.
The court found the man guilty under Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation—intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in the victim«s death through negligence. The sentence is 9 years in a strict-regime penal colony.
Additionally, the court granted the civil lawsuit filed by the deceased«s son: awarded 1 million rubles ($11,100 at current rates) in compensation for moral damages and more than 65,000 rubles ($722) for burial expenses.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
