Helmet Mandatory for All at ZSD Bicycle Festival

Organizers of the eighth international ZSD (Western High-Speed Diameter) Fontanka Fest bicycle festival have tightened safety requirements. All participants must wear a helmet during the «Earlier than All», «Our Orange», and «Light Up ZSD» races. Cyclists arriving at the start without protective headgear will not have access to the Western High-Speed Diameter track.
The event will take place on a section of ZSD temporarily closed to cars. The route offers not only scenic views of bridges and the Gulf of Finland but also significant physical exertion due to climbs, descents, and dense flow of cyclists.
As the organizers emphasize, a helmet is not just a piece of equipment but a necessary means of head protection. Even at low speed, a fall can lead to severe injuries to the head, neck, or face. A properly worn and fastened helmet significantly reduces the risk of damage in a collision with asphalt or other participants.
The new rule is designed to minimize risks and ensure safety for all riders. Moreover, a helmet boosts a cyclist«s confidence, allowing them to focus on pace and maneuvers.
The eighth ZSD Fontanka Fest festival will take place on 30 May 2026. Registration for participation opens on 2 March.
Details about the festival, including full participation rules, are available on the official website. News can be followed in the special section «Fontanka.ru», as well as on social media: the Telegram channel «Fontanka Fest» and the VKontakte group.
