«Anyone can contribute 200 rubles (about $3) and receive a heart-shaped badge — a symbol of support,» 59.RU was told by the Bereginya Fund. «This year we are distributing about 17,000 such badges. All funds raised will be directed to help children with cancer: treatment, rehabilitation, and other specific support for families.»

The campaign funded rehabilitation for a teenager from Osa at a Moscow region center last year.

You can join the campaign on the website умножайлюбовь.рф: register and make a contribution of 200 rubles (about $3). Heart-shaped badges are issued at the Bereginya Fund office at 41v Mira Street (Crystal Hall shopping center behind «Stolitsa»), office 6.

The campaign can be joined by individuals or whole groups: classes and schools, offices and companies. Among the regular participants, for example, are the basketball clubs Parma and Molot. They hold matches every year in T-shirts with handprints of the Bereginya Fund«s wards, thus reminding spectators of the opportunity to help others.

«Over nine years, the campaign has united around the fund thousands of residents of Perm and Perm Krai, hundreds of schools, and work collectives for one goal — to help children,» commented Tatyana Golubaeva, director of the Bereginya Fund. «People see how their support turns into real deeds: from paying for expensive rehabilitation courses to purchasing vital equipment, such as ventilators.»

Over eight years, campaign participants have transferred more than 9 million rubles (about $129,000), of which more than 3 million rubles (about $43,000) were last year. With this money, the Bereginya Fund helped 81 families pay for urgent flights to federal clinics and doctor consultations, treatment and vital medicines. Also, a second ventilator was purchased for the intensive care unit.

The Bereginya Fund clarified that the «Multiply Love» campaign is aimed not only at raising funds. Another important task is to give sick children and their families the opportunity to feel that the whole city is behind them.

«The culmination of the campaign is annually on February 15 — International Childhood Cancer Day,» the fund revealed. «On this day, we organize a flash mob under the windows of the cancer center: volunteers, partners and families with children in remission dance, forming a living heart. This gesture is a direct message to the children undergoing treatment: »You are not alone, we are with you.«» In support, the city illuminates the TV tower and the building of the Teatr-Teatr in the campaign«s colors, and last year car enthusiasts formed another large heart from their cars.

Earlier we reported about a couple from Perm who met at a charity run and now travel to the Far North to help children.
