Girl, 8, Represents Far East at Fire Festival
The girl needs support, which is why her mother shares about the trip on social media.
8-year-old girl Liza, a member of the Astera fire and light theater troupe, has gone to her first major festival, ‘Lights of the Black Earth’ in Yelets (Lipetsk Oblast), where she will represent the Far East. She is accompanied by her mother Alena, who is sharing about the trip on VKontakte.

‘Lights of the Black Earth’ is an annual fire arts festival. It takes place in Lipetsk Oblast. Hundreds of artists and musicians perform, and the show attracts thousands of spectators. Participants pay fees, as do guests — often an eco-contribution and ticket. They stay in tents or trailers. The festival will run on 26 and 27 July.
Liza is supported by her friends, acquaintances, and fellow city residents.
Liza prepared for the festival long and hard; her performance had to be approved separately because there had never been such a young participant before. She has been doing fire shows for three years, and it is one of her favorite hobbies. She chose it herself and persistently strived to join the Astera team.
Today she masters complex elements that not all adults find easy. In an interview with VLADIVOSTOK1.RU, she said that she decided to take part in the festival because she felt upset that there was no one from Primorye among the participants.
Liza«s performance can be followed on her social media, but with a 7-hour time difference. Her performance is scheduled for the evening, when it will already be past midnight in Primorye.
The routine was choreographed by her coach; it contains many technically complex elements that Liza first practiced without fire, blindfolded. Only after a certain number of ‘clean’ runs was she allowed to use burning props. We told the athlete«s story in a short video.
Tickets for the festival were bought back in May; mom Alena admitted that it was not cheap, but they managed it. The woman also does fire shows, but she got into it after her daughter, when she realized that Liza«s hobby was serious.
‘My goal is to show that the impossible is possible, and that our performances can help people overcome fear and strive more toward action. This will make the world kinder,’ Alena shared.
