Giant Fly Agaric Mushrooms Appear in Central Krasnoyarsk — Where Did They Come From?

Giant fly agaric mushrooms have appeared in the very center of Krasnoyarsk. The largest one reaches a height of 2.3 meters (7.5 feet). Journalists from NGS24.RU noticed them.

As it turned out, the entrance area of the Divodecor salon at 40 Diktatury Proletariata Street was decorated in this unusual way. Five mushrooms were placed on the left side and six on the right. All mushrooms are of different sizes, but the tallest is approximately 2.3 meters (7.5 feet).
According to the salon director Ksenia, she came up with the idea to place fly agaric mushrooms at the entrance herself, but she slightly borrowed the idea from foreigners.
«I saw such large mushrooms somewhere in Yerevan, I think, also many, many of them, and somehow this idea stuck with me. Our facade was already red, and for some reason, that’s why fly agaric mushrooms came to mind», says the project author.

However, this is not the only reason why the decorators chose these particular mushrooms.
«This year, ‘A la Rus’ is in trend, that is, a Russian style. Well, actually, fly agaric mushrooms for some reason are also an attribute of this style», adds the Krasnoyarsk resident.
Each mushroom was made by the decorators themselves, but it took a lot of time due to other projects.
«Our team consists of four decorators, and all four decorators were involved. The process was quite long, but, naturally, we were not only occupied with them but also with our projects and others. It turns out that we made them for about two months, no less», says Ksenia.

Incidentally, these giant fly agaric mushrooms are made from simple materials — expanding foam, polystyrene, and plaster. However, to prevent the decor from falling at the first gust of wind, a wooden frame holds them from inside.
«All of them have a wooden block inside, and the caps are also made with a reinforcing layer, well, and they end up on wire. The large ones are attached by it to the wall, and the small ones simply stand on anchors in the floor, that is, we just screwed them into the floor and that’s it», explains the salon director.

The fly agaric mushrooms have been standing at the salon for not the first day, and they have already been attempted to be damaged.
«They tear off these white spots, recently one [mushroom] was punctured, on one someone, apparently, leaned with their hand and it cracked. But we understand that this is fine, we have been in this business for a long time, we all understand this, but, thank God, there has been no serious vandalism so far», says Ksenia.
But mostly, Krasnoyarsk residents like it, Ksenia says that many approach the salon and photograph both the mushrooms themselves and take pictures with them. A bit later, they plan to illuminate the fly agaric mushrooms because, according to Ksenia, «for now they are not visible at all».
«That is, this whole red [cap] of ours will be illuminated. And, most likely, under the caps of the mushrooms themselves, we will also make lighting», says Ksenia.
According to data from «2GIS», there are another 40 decor studios in Krasnoyarsk, among them — «Dynastiya», «Enika-Art», «Leus Deco», and others.
Earlier, NGS24.RU reported where the sign with the names of the seasons went from the oldest pharmacy in Krasnoyarsk and whether it will be returned to its place.
