Ex-director of UK Sigma Yug on trial for bribery

The bribery trial of former UK Sigma Yug director Timofey Biryukov has opened in Volgograd's Traktorozavodsky District. The first hearing began on July 20.

In Volgograd, a criminal case has opened against former director of LLC «UK Sigma Yug» Timofey Biryukov. He is accused of bribing an official to commit knowingly illegal acts.

According to the case file, the materials were registered on June 26. That same day, they were transferred to a judge, and on July 6, a decision was made to accept the case for proceedings and schedule the first court hearing.

Recall that news of Timofey Biryukov«s detention emerged on March 17, 2026. This was confirmed by several independent sources of V1.RU, who said the reason was bribery.

The source explained: «They were detained on March 16 during a joint operation by several agencies, one of which was the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Volgograd Region (GU MVD). Timofey Biryukov has been arrested and is in custody; Anatoly Meshcheryakov is at home but not allowed to communicate. It is expected that questions will also arise for other members of the group, including the founder. According to some data, long-standing issues have emerged regarding the holding of general meetings when taking over management of apartment buildings. This includes falsification of meeting minutes, embezzlement of funds, and fraud.»

The next day, a video of the detention of a 44-year-old director of one of the city«s management companies appeared on the official accounts of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volgograd Region (GU MVD). According to the law enforcement agency, the man is suspected of receiving and giving bribes.

In the footage released by the police, special forces are seen storming the house where the man was detained. In the following shots, the suspect is lying on the floor and speaking to operatives:

— Department for Combating Corruption in Volgograd. Did you give bribes to him?

— He asked for it to go to the SMO (special military operation). (Indistinct.)

— How much, when? In what way?

— 2025, about four months, 10,000 rubles ($118) each time to his card.

Some time later, the management company suddenly changed directors. Yuri Mashtaller took over «Sigma Yug» instead of Timofey Biryukov.

The first hearing on the merits of the case began on July 20 at 10:00 AM. The presiding judge is Diana Shipaeva.
