EMERCOM Head, Acting Tver Governor Discuss Security

Russia's Emergency Minister Alexander Kurenkov met in Tver with Acting Governor Vitaly Korolyov. They discussed measures to protect Upper Volga residents and infrastructure.

A working meeting was held in Tver between Alexander Kurenkov, head of Russia«s Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), and Vitaly Korolyov, acting governor of Tver Oblast. The acting governor reported on measures aimed at increasing the protection of residents and infrastructure facilities in the region.
Fire engines and rescue vehicles were handed over to the Tver garrison.

To underline this, the Tver garrison of firefighters and rescuers received the largest batch of special equipment in recent years.
Ostashkov and Vesyegonsk became home to new GIMS inspector units.

Particular attention during the meeting was devoted to the development of the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels (GIMS). In the two towns of Ostashkov and Vesyegonsk, EMERCOM of Russia has built new GIMS inspector offices equipped with modern equipment and vehicles.

«The region is large and has a huge number of water bodies. Previously, to pass an exam, obtain a license or register a watercraft, you had to travel to the regional capital, Tver. With the opening of GIMS offices in Ostashkov and Vesyegonsk, this has become easier and more convenient,» Alexander Kurenkov stressed.
The region«s many water bodies make water safety a pressing issue.

Addressing the acting governor, the minister thanked him for constructive cooperation. The ministry will continue to pay close attention to equipping rescue units and increasing their mobility and effectiveness so that every resident and guest of the Tver land feels safe.
