The other day, when Perm was hit by -30°C (-22°F) frosts, an unusual young man was spotted in the city center—he was riding his bicycle no-handed and, instead of holding the handlebars, was playing an accordion. It turned out he wasn«t a local at all but a traveler. Here»s his story.

The nimble cyclist is 22-year-old Klim Kaluzhskikh from Magadan. He has been traveling across Russia for about a year. He hitchhikes, takes commuter trains, and uses all possible means between regions, but rides a bicycle through city streets. He arrived in Perm this week.

The cyclist shares that he has already visited about half of Russia«s regions. In winter, he heads to the country»s coldest places, and in summer—to the hottest. And everywhere—with his accordion.

«People ask me now: what»s the goal, why am I doing this,« says Klim. »The answer is: I«d like to bring joy and smiles to the faces of passersby as often as possible, to create more positivity around people

Klim has loved riding a bike since childhood. He learned to ride no-handed fairly quickly, but only recently combined riding with playing a musical instrument—about a year ago, when he started traveling. He often performs the song «Hare Krishna» on the accordion. Klim notes that he has been hardening himself since childhood, pouring cold water on himself, and generally leads a healthy lifestyle.

The daredevil cyclist«s next stop is Yekaterinburg. He is heading to Siberia.
