City hall defends tree pruning in central Samara

Residents of Samara asked for a check into the legality of tree pruning and felling near the Krasnoye Znamya monument on July 20.

On Monday, July 20, residents of Samara noticed that lush green trees were being pruned near the «Krasnoye Znamya» monument at the intersection of Krasnoarmeyskaya and Chapayevskaya streets. One more tree was simply cut down. The residents were outraged.

«The work is being carried out without a felling permit! We demand a check into the legality of the felling», wrote people in a post published by the Podslushano Samara channel on MAX.

The cut branches show that the trees were green and healthy at the time of pruning.

«One tree was hazardous and had to be cut down. The remaining plants required crown pruning. The work on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street was carried out in accordance with the Rules for the Improvement of the Urban District of Samara, approved by the Duma decision of August 8, 2019 No. 444», the administration explained.

Recently, tree pits were asphalted on Samarskaya Street. Previously, the same situation occurred on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street.

The city administration explained why in Samara trees are being cut down.
