City Hall Considers Fare Hike in Barnaul

The Barnaul Administration is considering a fare increase in public transport based on an appeal from carriers, as reported by NGS22.RU.
At present, documents confirming the justification for increasing fares have not been received from passenger carriers,
emphasized the press service.
The city hall noted that if entrepreneurs provide documents justifying the change in fare cost, the administration will verify the justification for the tariff changes.
Based on the analysis, proposals on tariffs will be formed, including for the use of electronic payment methods,
stated the department.
After that, as explained by the authorities, the tariff proposals will be submitted for consideration by the Coordination Council — the decision on fare increases will be made through voting.
At the same time, the administration reminded that they set fares only on regulated routes. In turn, on unregulated routes, carriers have the right to independently set ticket prices.
Earlier it became known that local carriers would like to increase the price to 55 rubles (approximately $1 at current rates). However, the authorities preliminarily did not support the initiative because the route operations are not up to standard.
