«Please tell us, yesterday we drove to Sintez and noticed that the largest chimney has been dismantled at the top. Will this affect the timely start of heating?» — a reader wrote to 45.RU.

The press service responded that the reconstruction work on the chimney will not affect the timing of heating supply. KGC has begun repairing the upper part of the chimney at TPP-1. The work is necessary to ensure the facility is ready for safe industrial operation.

«Like other station components operating in intensive mode, chimneys regularly undergo industrial safety inspections, diagnostics, and assessment. Based on such an inspection, defects were found on chimney No. 5, which are now being eliminated as part of the reconstruction. These defects are natural and inevitably arise during more than 30 years of operation,» commented Viktor Matveev, technical director of the SP Kurgan TPP.

Reinforced concrete chimney No. 5, 270 meters tall, was built at the Kurgan TPP from 1986 to 1991 and launched in October 1992. It removes flue gases from power boilers, reaching temperatures of 120 °C (248 °F). All work will be completed before the start of the autumn-winter heating period.

In 2025, the Kurgan TPP-1 completely replaced the gas ducts, extending 800 meters. The previous gas ducts had not been replaced since their construction.
