Chelyabinsk Region submits 9 projects to competition

On 9 August, Moscow will announce the winners of the 11th All-Russian competition for comfortable urban environment projects. Chelyabinsk Region has submitted 9 applications from small towns and key rural settlements.

Nine projects from Chelyabinsk Region are submitted for the federal urban environment competition.

The results of the 11th All-Russian competition for the best projects for creating a comfortable urban environment in small towns and historical settlements will be announced on 9 August in Moscow at the forum «Development of Small Towns». Chelyabinsk Region has submitted 9 applications — from small towns and key rural settlements.

The preparation of competition applications is coordinated by the Regional Center for Competence in Urban Environment of Chelyabinsk Region, subordinate to the regional Ministry of Construction. This year, due to changes in the competition regulations, key rural settlements were added to the traditional participants — small towns.

All territories for participation were determined by residents through public discussions and votes. Projects were developed jointly with municipalities and professional design teams. Each application reflects the specific features of the territory: agricultural heritage, industrial history, national flavor, natural landscapes, and historical environment. Participation in the competition allows municipalities to receive federal support for the improvement of public spaces.

Below are the projects submitted to the competition, grouped by population size of the settlements.

Timiryazevsky settlement — project «Family Park. Greenhouse 1934», based on agricultural heritage and the history of the first Ural fruit garden. The space will combine family recreation, educational and play areas, with architecture referencing the theme of garden, grain, and agricultural science.
Fershampenuaz village — project «Improvement of the Park of Generations», aimed at residents of all ages. It is based on the national flavor of the Nagaybak people, Cossack traditions, and steppe landscape.

Uvelsky settlement — project «Subsoil Rich in Gifts». The concept combines the industrial and agricultural heritage of the territory through images of earth, grain, and ears of corn. Functional zones symbolize the stages of a person«s life journey and the development of the local community.

Chebarkul — project «The Quiet Voice of Cape Semerik. Score of the Place». It provides careful improvement of the natural area considering the relief and shoreline of Lake Chebarkul, creation of walking routes and viewpoints while preserving the landscape.
Korkino — project «Miners Avenue. Timeline of the City of Korkino». Based on the city«s industrial history and the image of the Korkino open-pit mine. The new space will combine memory of the mining past, modern leisure, and development of the central city axis.
Kartaly — project «Cossack Outpost. Improvement of the recreation area along the Karataly-Ayat River». The concept relies on Cossack history and the city»s role as a major railway hub. The project includes creation of an embankment with emphasis on natural landscape, routes, and event spaces.

Ozyorsk — project «Rhythm of the City» on Dzerzhinsky Street. Continues previously implemented solutions within the master plan, based on the scientific and industrial identity of the city. The public space will develop as a unified system with various functional zones.

Zlatoust — project «Tourist Route “Embankment of the City Pond: History Against the Mountains”. First Stage». Aimed at developing tourism potential, includes improvement of the embankment, revealing natural panoramas and connection with the city«s history, artistic engraving, and Taganay National Park.
Miass — project «Truda Square in Stargorod: New Gold of the Urals». Envisions renovation of a public space in the historic part of the city, rethinking the gold mining heritage and preserving the historical environment in a modern format.

The announcement of the competition results is preliminarily scheduled for 9 August as part of the forum «Development of Small Towns» in Moscow.
