Broken warm bus stop leaves Krasnoyarsk residents out in the cold

Residents of Krasnoyarsk are complaining that the heated bus stop in the Studgorodok (Student City) district is not working. They reported the issue to journalists from the TVK television channel. Outside temperatures have meanwhile fallen below -30°C (-22°F).

«The »Student City« bus stop is not working. People are cold; it»s -40°C (-40°F) outside. Our bus stop is not functioning. There is nowhere to warm up. It has been standing like this for many years. Ownerless and unconnected. Even if you dial 112 (the emergency number), it won«t respond,» said a local woman.

Bus stops in Krasnoyarsk, including the heated ones, are managed by the Municipal State Institution «UDIB.» Representatives told an NGS24.RU correspondent that they are aware of the problem—the stop is broken, and specialists have requested funding to purchase the necessary materials for repairs. The stop currently cannot be fixed because the required materials are simply unavailable.

Previously, NGS24.RU reported that bus stops in Krasnoyarsk were displaying incorrect temperatures—weather services indicated it was at least -30°C (-22°F) outside, while the stop«s thermometers showed only -22°C (-8°F).
