Blind Courier Gets Six-Figure Donation

Alexander Makarov primarily handles grocery deliveries but occasionally accepts orders from local restaurants.
Readers of E1.RU collected 400,000 rubles (about $4,000 at current rates) in two days for blind courier Alexander Makarov. The story about him was published on the portal on the morning of November 5 and sparked great interest. Dozens of concerned citizens ask us daily for Alexander«s contact information.
«The first payment came to me on November 5, right after the report on E1.RU. The amounts vary: 10,000 rubles (about $100), 5,000 rubles (about $50). In total, it has already reached 400,000 rubles (about $4,000). This really surprised me!»
In a conversation with E1.RU, Sasha said that he plans to put this money into an interest-bearing account to continue saving for an apartment. He does not intend to quit his job as a courier — he will keep working shifts until he acquires his own housing.
«Even a guide dog needs a place. So I will keep going until I reach my goal. But I also wish that people wouldn«t just send money. It would be better if they wrote, called, or contacted me,» added Sasha.
The video about Alexander has garnered over a million views on E1.RU«s social media — even famous bloggers are liking and reposting it. Every day we receive at least 30 messages requesting his payment details.
A short video documents the daily challenges and resilience of the blind courier.
To recall, Alexander Makarov used to live a normal life — he graduated from school, got a job, dated a girl, and made plans for the future. But one evening, he was beaten by drunk strangers in a dark alley, permanently losing his sight. For seven years now, the young man has been using a cane because he can only distinguish light from darkness. Despite this, he works as a courier almost every day to save up for an apartment, move out from his parents«, and learn to live like all sighted people.
