Almost Half of Yabloko Candidates Risk Rejection

About 11 of the 25 candidates from Yabloko in the elections to the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly may be denied registration in single-member constituencies. As reported by the party on 21 July, district election commissions claim that the applicants did not submit some documents, although many recorded the submission process on video.

One such case involves Dmitry Khorzov, who was nominated in the Moskovsky district (constituency №20). The election commission stated that he did not provide a notification about the absence of foreign accounts. However, on the video recording available to Yabloko, this document is present.

The party emphasizes that documents are submitted with inventories, and in Khorzov«s case, also on video, but then they «suddenly disappear». Yabloko»s lawyers consider such actions politically motivated.

A similar problem has affected candidates from other parties as well. For example, a representative of A Just Russia, Manefa Koroleva (constituency №7), submitted documents to territorial election commission №44 with an audio recording, but the confirmation lacked the mandatory certificate on the absence of foreign assets. The party called the commission«s behavior «a game of forgetfulness». Similar incidents have occurred before: during the 2024 municipal elections, documents «went missing» for candidates from New People.
